Cold mornings, scattered rains as 'amihan,’ easterlies prevail over PH

MANILA, Philippines – The country will experience cold temperatures, especially in the mornings, and scattered or isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the northeast monsoon and the easterlies, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said in its early briefing on Monday. Weather specialist Robert Badrina of Pagasa also said that it has not monitored any low pressure area in the country in the next few days. The easterlies – winds that carry humid and warm weather – will be likely over Bicol Region, Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, and Southern Leyte. Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon will be experiencing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to amihan, the Pagasa forecaster said. Amihan, according to the national weather bureau, brings cooler, drier winds, particularly felt in Luzon, as winds flow from a high-pressure area in Siberia. Pagasa said this season would have moderate temperatures, lower humidity and reduced rainfall.
