Azma takes notice of manhandling of artist

LAHORE Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari has taken strict notice of an incident in which a young singer, Rehman Ali, was subjected to violence by police personnel in Mianwali. Bokhari stated that she has watched the video circulating on social media, which shows police officials assaulting a young artist. She termed the incident deeply unfortunate, condemnable, and unacceptable. She made it clear that an immediate and transparent investigation will be conducted, and if negligence or abuse of authority by any official is proven, strict action will be taken against those responsible in accordance with the law. She emphasized that artists are a sensitive and dignified segment of society, and any form of violence against them cannot be tolerated under any circumstances. She reaffirmed that the Punjab government is fully committed to ensuring the respect, protection, and dignity of artists and cultural practitioners. Copyright Business Recorder, 2025
