Blooming brilliant! Pintaflores Festival returns to San Carlos after typhoon delays

"The annual Pintaflores Festival burst back onto the streets of San Carlos City on Saturday, transforming the city centre into a vivid display of colour, music and dance after weeks of weather-related delays. Footage shows performers clad in bright, flower-themed costumes and intricate body paint dancing to live music, as synchronised choreography turned the main thoroughfare into a moving tapestry of blossoms and patterns. Originally scheduled for November 5, this year’s celebration was postponed three times after a series of typhoons battered the Visayan region. “Pintaflores 2025 is exciting because it was postponed thrice, and now it’s happening, and thank you to all the spectators,” said an attendee, KC Ofteria. The Pintaflores Festival was established in 1992, merging two traditional celebrations, the Dances of the Flowers and the Nabingkalan Tattoo Festival. Its name is derived from the words 'pinta' (tattoos) and 'flores' (flowers). The event celebrates San Carlos City’s connection to nature and cultural heritage, while also honouring its patron saint, St Charles Borromeo, through dance, costume and celebration."
