MANILA, Philippines — A petition filed before the House of Representatives Electoral Tribunal (HRET) sought the removal of a lawmaker whose dismissal from government service was ordered by the Office of the Ombudsman after he and several others were found administratively liable over acts allegedly committed during his time as Bohol governor. The petition for quo warranto was filed by Edgardo Ingking, a member of the anti-corruption group Lihok Bol-anon Batok Korapsyon, against Murang Kuryente Rep. Arthur Yap. The dismissal carries a penalty of perpetual disqualification from public office as one of the accessory penalties.
