"Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Nikorndej Balankura denied claims that ceasefire talks are underway with Cambodia, speaking at a press briefing in Bangkok on Monday. “There were no discussions on a ceasefire. The narrative that has circulated appears to have been deliberately disseminated and distorted by certain parties for their own benefit.” Balankura went on to allege that Cambodian forces have continued to carry out 'indiscriminate attacks' against Thailand. "Including the firing of BM-21 rockets at civilian areas in Kantharalak District Province. These attacks resulted in the death of one innocent civilian and injuries to several others," he added. Balankura said Thailand strongly condemns Cambodia’s 'brutal and inhumane actions', urging Phnom Penh to immediately halt attacks on civilians, comply with international law, and take responsibility for civilian losses. Addressing allegations that Thai military operations had damaged archaeological sites, Balankura rejected the claims, stating that Thailand has evidence showing Cambodian forces were using heritage locations for military purposes. “Yesterday, Cambodian forces continued to reinforce their troops and launch attacks against Thailand using artillery, mortars and BM-21 rockets into several areas of key historic sites, including Ta Muen Thom Temple, Channa Temple, Ta Muen and a temple in Surin Province,” he said. He also criticised Cambodia’s suspension of land-border crossings, warning it may violate international law by harming civilians. Thai authorities said they are prepared to assist Thai nationals currently in Cambodia, offering documentation services through registration at the Thai embassy in Phnom Penh and the consulate-general in Siem Reap for identity verification or assistance with returning to Thailand."
