PASIG City Mayor Vico Sotto warned the public on Monday about scams using his face and identity, citing two schemes that he said are increasingly convincing. In a Facebook post, Sotto said one scam involves an AI-generated video showing him supposedly promoting online gambling. He posted the warning after attending a flag-raising ceremony at the Temporary Pasig City Hall on Monday, Dec. 15. “Fake videos of me and others. Text blasts with masked numbers. Fake websites. And many others,” he said. He shared a screenshot of a scheme that appears as a text message allegedly from the Land Transportation Office containing a link, which he flagged as fake. “Good morning to everyone, except the SCAMMERS!!!,” Sotto wrote in the post. “Let us be extra careful because sometimes it already really looks real, even the sound,” he said. Meanwhile, during the flag-raising ceremony, 59 retiring and soon-to-retire employees of the Pasig City government were honored under the Service Award for Retirees 2025. The recognition, conducted under the Program on Awards and Incentives for Service Excellence (Praise) managed by the Human Resource Development Office, aims to acknowledge staff who have dedicated 15 years or more of continuous service and have reached the mandatory retirement age of 65. The awardees received a Plaque of Recognition, a personalized Fossil wrist watch engraved with the Pasig City seal, their name, and years of service, and a gift certificate valued between P2,000 and P10,000 depending on their service category. Now in its fourth year, the Service Award for Retirees reinforces Pasig City’s appreciation for the dedication, hard work, and commitment of its employees, whom Sotto called the pillars of honest governance. “Happy retirement and thank you very much for your service to the people of Pasig,” the mayor said.
