"Donald Trump suggested that 'we're closer now than we have been ever' on Ukraine, as he spoke from DC on Monday. "We had a very good conversation one hour ago with the European leaders, many of them, involving the war with Russia and Ukraine. We were, we had a long discussion and things are seemingly going well, but we've been saying that for a long time," he admitted. "I think we're closer now. And they will tell you that they're closer now. We had numerous conversations with President Putin of Russia. And I think we're closer now than we have been ever," Trump added. He also said that he needed to get Russia and Ukraine "on the same page, but I think that's working along." It came following two days of talks between the US and Ukrainian delegations in Berlin, before a US-Ukraine-European summit on Monday night. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz suggested the US had agreed to provide 'Article-5-like' security guarantees for Ukraine. Russia had not commented at time of publication."
