"The National Liberation Army (ELN) launched a 72-hour armed strike in parts of Colombia, including areas near the Venezuelan border, in response to US threats of military action against drug trafficking. Footage filmed on Monday shows the Colombian Army's Second Division Explosive Ordnance Disposal team removing ELN flags and leaflets, and safely dismantling explosives placed to block roads. "This morning, we have responded to several reports concerning possible improvised explosive devices. Each has been safely dealt with and destroyed in a controlled manner, ensuring no impact on personnel or infrastructure," said the commander of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal group of the Second Division. The ELN comments come as a response to what it called 'imperialist intervention threats' from Washington, including Trump's warning that Colombia's President Petro could 'be next' over the country's cocaine production, following pressure on Venezuela. In response to roadblocks during the ELN's armed strike, the National Institute of Roads (Invias) urged the public on X to 'stay informed through official channels' and follow authorities' instructions. Since the strike began on Sunday morning, 51 attacks and threats have been reported across various regions of Colombia. Amid rising violence, Colombia's Ministry of Defence announced rewards of up to 200 million pesos (around $52,600) for information preventing new attacks, and 500 million pesos (around $131,800) for information leading to the capture of alias 'El Negro Mina,' the alleged ELN leader seen in videos threatening civilians."
