'Thailand uses conventional and psychological warfare!' - Cambodia demands international condemnation as border clashes continue

"Spokesperson for the Royal Government of Cambodia, Pen Bona, accused Thailand of launching 'two wars' simultaneously on the country, speaking at a press briefing in Phnom Penh on Tuesday. "Thailand has been invading our land. They have launched two wars against us. The first war is conventional warfare, as we all know. They have used all types of heavy weaponry [...] against the nation, army and our people. The second is psychological warfare," he noted. "In this war, they aim to break the spirit and courage of the army and the people, and to incite division and undermine solidarity among the Khmer people and their leadership," Bona added. Spokesperson for the defence ministry, Lieutenant General Maly Socheata, provided updates on Thailand's continuous strikes into Cambodian territory across Monday and Tuesday, demanding international condemnation of the attacks. "We reiterate that Cambodia's right to self-defence is solely targeted at Thai military targets and has never targeted civilian areas. Conversely, the Thai side has deliberately attacked locations where Cambodian civilians reside," Socheata pointed out. "Cambodia calls on the international community to strongly condemn Thailand's violations of the Joint Declaration, its repeated war crimes, and its unlawful activities," the spokesperson emphasised. Tensions flared on the Thai-Cambodian border last week. Thailand reported several soldiers and civilians killed during evacuations. Cambodia reported 15 civilian deaths and 76 injuries, while up to 422,698 individuals have been displaced. US President Donald Trump brokered a ceasefire signed on October 26 following the previous border crisis. Both sides have blamed the other for renewed clashes, with Thailand accusing Cambodia of indiscriminate rocket fire against civilian and military areas."
