Saregama India said on Tuesday it has signed a strategic partnership with Bollywood movie studio Bhansali Productions, for exclusive rights to future film music. The deal comes at a time when Bollywood has been struggling to attract moviegoers into cinemas due to an uneven content slate, hitting footfalls at multiplex operators such as PVR Inox. Bhansali Productions, founded in 1996 by film director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, has created many iconic Bollywood films such as the romance classic ‘Devdas’, the historical fiction ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and the series ‘Heeramandi’ that streams on Netflix.
