THE Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday released a list of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices (FCPDs) not allowed to be used anywhere in the country due to their danger and explosive power weeks ahead of the 2026 New Year celebration. The list includes Watusi, Poppop, Pla-Pla, Piccolo, Five Star, Giant Bawang, Atomic Bomb, large-sized Judas Belt, Super Lolo, Goodbye Bading, Lolo Thunder, Atomic Triangle, Mother Rockets, Goodbye Philippines, Coke in can, Bin Laden, Pillbox, Kabasi, Super Yolanda, Boga, Kwiton, Hello Columbia, Tuna, GHP Nuclear, Special, Goodbye Chismosa, Kingkong, Dart Bomb, and other unlabeled locally made FCPD products. According to the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO), the firecrackers on the list are prohibited for not meeting the guidelines indicated in Rule II of the 2012 Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations for Republic Act 7183, which governs the manufacture, sale, distribution and use of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices in the Philippines. It said that the fuse should not burn less than 3 seconds and not later than 6 seconds. At a press briefing, FEO chief Col. Rex Buyucan urged the public to follow guidelines for a safe and happy New Year celebration. “As we approach the yuletide season, I hope everyone is happy as we welcome the new year,” Buyucan said. “To achieve this Happy New Year, we advise our countrymen to follow our guidelines. Do not use illegal firecrackers for our safety,” he added. Bucayan said those who will be found selling or using the prohibited firecrackers will be fined P20,000 with imprisonment of six months to one year. Izel Abanilla
