Goods transporters’ strike paralyses supply chain: KCCI

KARACHI: President of Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Rehan Hanif has said that ongoing goods transport strike paralyzes supply chain, industries are close to closure. Taking to a 25-member delegation of goods transporters who visited KCCI to discuss the ongoing strike, billions of rupees are being lost with each passing day said President KCCI. The ongoing strike is not only causing severe damage to business activities but also to the country’s economy, Rehan Hanif said. Delivery of raw materials and finished goods to ports, factories and markets is severely affected, said Rehan Hanif. Stoppage of exports is having a negative impact on foreign exchange reserves. President KCCI said government should take immediate notice of the strike starting from December 8. The government should listen to the problems faced by transporters and accept their legitimate demands. In the current bad economic situation, the country cannot afford long strikes, He said.
