KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government, Housing and Town Planning Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that the different initiatives are being executed in Lyari in the field of education, and an education project of Rs 400 million will be completed soon under a public–private partnership. The Minister was speaking at the foundation stone laying ceremony of the beautification and renovation of Molvi Usman Park at Kalri Ground, Lyari, on Tuesday, in the presence of Mayor of Karachi Murtaza Wahab, members of the Sindh Assembly, and PPP leaders and workers. He said that the people of Lyari do love the PPP, and the party leadership is proud of it. On the instructions of PPP leadership, the Sindh government is taking a proper care of Lyari. He said that the construction of the park will provide the local community with excellent recreational opportunities. The park will offer all recreational facilities for children, the elderly, women, and youth. Facilities such as an RO plant, changing rooms, and washrooms are being constructed. The renovation and beautification of Lyari General Maternity Home is also under way. He said most of the projects in Lyari are being initiated for the youth, as Lyari is very close to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s heart. Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab said that Bilawal Bhutto has directed that comprehensive projects be launched for the youth. Projects worth Rs. 5 billion are being initiated in Lyari, with a focus on the restoration of the entire infrastructure. He said that a project to supply 10MGD of water for Lyari will be launched soon. “We will turn Lyari into a model area of Karachi.” Copyright Business Recorder, 2025
