DAVAO CITY–In a small, sunlit room inside the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC)’s House of Hope, the sound of laughter rose above the quiet hum of hospital life.  It was a sunny December 1 morning, and inside the House of Hope, a center for children fighting cancer, Justine Fernandez-Gonzales, a Cotabato City-based culinary entrepreneur who runs a restaurant here, conducted a special pizza-making workshop for cancer survivors.
