'Together with God's blessing, we'll defeat imperialism' - Maduro calls for global protests, accuses US of 'oil piracy' in Caribbean

"Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Tuesday called for global protests against the United States, accusing it of stealing Venezuelan oil in the Caribbean Sea. Speaking at the Constituent Congress of the Working Class in Caracas, Maduro urged workers in ports around the world, particularly in the energy and maritime sectors, to organise demonstrations to defend Venezuelan oil from what he described as US 'piracy.' "Talk with shipowners of all ports of the world to prepare a great protest of oil workers, gas workers and merchant marine workers against the piracy of the government of the United States," the president said. Maduro also emphasised the importance of national unity in the face of 'foreign interference,' asserting that the Bolivarian movement will remain steadfast under any challenging circumstances. "Together we will defeat the oligarchy and imperialism under any circumstance we have to face, always with God's blessing and always in perfect unity," Maduro said. The president said that for months Venezuela has faced a US strategy of pressure, justified by its operations against drug trafficking and organised crime in the Caribbean, including a military deployment near the country's coasts. "Venezuela has spent 25 weeks denouncing, confronting and defeating a campaign of multidimensional aggression that ranges from psychological terrorism to the piracy of the corsairs who assaulted the oil," Maduro said. The president also strongly criticised Chile's president-elect, Jose Antonio Kast, calling him a 'Nazi Pinochetist' after the politician rejected Maduro's government and accused him of 'stealing' the elections."
