Amanda Holden Sets The Record Straight On Strictly Come Dancing Hosting Rumours

Amanda Holden Amanda Holden has insisted that she will not be going for the job as new host of Strictly Come Dancing , despite what you might have read. Over the weekend, the Britain’s Got Talent star was named by The Sun as one of 10 celebrities in the running to take over from Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman on Strictly next year. According to the tabloid’s article, these 10 stars – which included both Amanda and her frequent co-host Alan Carr – were being put through various “chemistry tests” to determine which two of them would make the best duo to replace Tess and Claudia at the helm of the long-running BBC dance show. However, speaking on her Heart Breakfast show earlier this week , Amanda made it clear that neither she nor Alan would be hosting Strictly. “Is it a joke or not that you and Alan Carr are stepping in for Claudia and Tess?” her co-presenter Ashley Roberts asked on air, prompting her to respond: “I am so happy you have asked me about this. “ There was a massive article in the newspaper at the weekend, and [it says] there are lots of people in the mix and [there was] a huge picture of me and Alan saying that we’re doing ‘chemistry tests’ and this and that and auditioning. “I want to say now, that me and Alan are 100% not doing Strictly. We are so flattered to be in that mix. We both are not doing it.” Alan Carr pictured on This Morning last month Amanda went on to point out that her BGT commitments meant she wouldn’t be able to do it, while “Alan’s career has just blown up even more because of The Traitors”. “So yes, take our names off the list, because we’re not doing it,” she added. @thisisheart @noholdenback clears up rumours that she and @chattyman are taking over @bbcstrictly! #fyp #amandaholden #alancarr #ashleyroberts @iamashleyroberts ♬ original sound - Heart - Heart Alan previously joked : “You saw how sweaty I was in the [Celebrity Traitors] castle, imagine me live on a Saturday night coming down those stairs – people would slip in a pool of my sweat while doing the fandango.” “It’s lovely to be thought of,” he added. “But it’s probably a bit too nerve-racking.” While Bradley Walsh and Alex Jones were named as early favourites for the Strictly presenting job, The Sun’s article also listed Alison Hammond , Angela Scanlon , Zoe Ball , Rylan Clark , Rob Rinder and Holly Willoughby as potential contenders for the gig. Tess and Claudia will present their last Strictly live show together on Saturday night, before their final episode as hosts airs on Christmas Day in the annual pre-recorded festive special .
