"Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed welcomed Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday at the National Palace in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, as part of an official visit aimed at strengthening historical ties and expanding economic cooperation between the two countries. Footage shows Modi arriving at the palace courtyard, with military bands performing in his honour during the welcoming ceremony. The two leaders were then seen signing agreements in the meeting hall. The signing reportedly included several agreements and memoranda of understanding covering key sectors, such as technologicy and digital collaboration, agriculture and joint development, as well as in health and education. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared optimism about the future of the Global South, as he highlighted Ethiopia's growing role within BRICS and deepening ties between India and Africa during an address to Addis Ababa's parliament on Wednesday. India is among Ethiopia's top three foreign investors, with investments exceeding $4 billion, largely concentrated in the manufacturing and agricultural sectors. This visit marks the second leg of Modi's three-nation tour - following Jordan and preceding Oman - and is the first by an Indian prime minister to Ethiopia since 2011."
