NCP's Manikrao Kokate stripped of portfolio as court issues arrest warrant

Maharashtra minister Manikrao Kokate lost his portfolio Wednesday. This followed an arrest warrant in a 1995 cheating and forgery case. The Nashik District Court upheld his two-year jail term for fraudulently obtaining government flats. Kokate admitted himself to a Mumbai hospital. His lawyers are seeking urgent bail. This is the second NCP minister to face such a situation.
