"The iconic Saigon Notre-Dame Cathedral in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam stands reborn as a radiant jewel of the Christmas season, its familiar red-brick facade now transformed by a spectacular cocoon of light. This year, the landmark dazzles like never before, enveloped in a breathtaking 1,000 kilometres of LED lights — double the quantity used last year. This festive display covers its facade and towers, attracting massive crowds and becoming a major holiday highlight. Aerial footage captured on Sunday reveal the LED lights adorning the cathedral, resembling a vast net woven from golden beads. As dusk falls, the twin spires of the cathedral shimmer, with the arrangement of lights creating the illusion of gigantic, glowing Christmas trees where the towers once stood. Countless strands of lights trace every architectural detail, outlining the structure in a cool, ethereal glow. The grounds also sparkle with decorative items, transforming the entire square into a festive wonderland where thousands of locals and tourists gather each night to celebrate, capture photos, and enjoy impromptu singing and dancing. “We are Catholics, so during the holidays, we enjoy the Christmas spirit together. This year, in particular, the festive feel in Ho Chi Minh City is wonderful, so our group planned to come here to enjoy it,” said tourist Lam Minh Thu. “After work, I got dressed up in a costume and came here to take photos with the children in a Christmas display,” noted local Vu Luan. “This is my first time visiting the cathedral. It’s incredibly crowded and lively, and the illuminations are beautiful,” added another tourist, Dinh Kieu Dung. The site is chosen as the focal point for Christmas celebrations, as the cathedral’s neo-Romanesque and Gothic architecture, constructed in the late 19th century, beautifully complements the illuminations."
