"Sultan of Oman Haitham bin Tariq received Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Muscat Airport on Wednesday, as he arrived for a two-day official visit to the Sultanate. Footage shows the Sultan greeting and embracing the Indian Prime Minister, as well as the two leaders holding a meeting. According to local media, a formal reception ceremony was held for Prime Minister Modi at the VIP hall of Muscat International Airport, where Sultan Haitham escorted him to the honour platform and the Indian national anthem was played. During the visit, Oman and India signed an executive programme and a joint document, along with four memoranda of understanding to strengthen bilateral cooperation. The signed agreements include a Joint Maritime Vision document, an executive programme for cooperation in millet cultivation and innovation in the food and agricultural industries, and four agreements covering cooperation in maritime heritage and museums, scientific research and innovation and skills development, agriculture and related sectors, and collaboration between the Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry. The Indian Embassy previously announced that Prime Minister Modi would make an official visit to Oman on December 17–18, 2025, accompanied by a high-level delegation.
