Constitutional Court upholds impeachment of police chief over martial law involvement

The Constitutional Court on Thursday upheld the impeachment of police chief Cho Ji-ho over his involvement in former President Yoon Suk Yeol's short-lived imposition of martial law. Cho, commissioner general of the National Police Agency, was removed from office immediately, a year after he was impeached by the National Assembly for allegedly blocking lawmakers from entering the parliamentary compound to vote to lift the decree on Dec. 3, 2024.
