MTN Mobile Money Limited will, from 2026, initiate a full re-registration of all MoMo agents across the country as part of new measures aimed at addressing the rising fraud within Ghana’s digital payments ecosystem. This was disclosed by the Senior Manager for Commercial Mobile Money, Abdul-Majeed Rufai, during MTN’s Regional Agents and Merchants Awards held in Kumasi on Tuesday, December 16, 2025. Rufai said the exercise has become necessary following a growing trend of agents operating with other people’s details — a loophole he described as one of the major entry points for fraudulent activity on the platform.
