MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang on Thursday issued Memorandum Circular 111, suspending work in government offices nationwide from Dec. 29, 2025 to Jan. 2, 2026. Signed by Executive Secretary Ralph Recto on Dec. 18, the memo gives government employees the “full opportunity to celebrate New Year's Day activities and to allow them to travel to and from different regions in the country.” However, agencies responsible for basic, vital, and health services, and preparedness and response duties must continue to remain operational. On the other hand, the suspension of work in private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads, according to the memo. December 30, Rizal Day; December 31, New Year’s Eve; and January 1, New Year’s Day were declared as holidays by the Palace.
