MANILA, Philippines – A magnitude 5.2 earthquake shook the province of Cagayan on Thursday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). The tremor, which occurred around 3:28 p.m., was some 20 kilometers (kms) southwest of Dalupiri Island, also in the same province, it said. Tectonic in origin, the quake has a depth of focus of 10kms, the state seismology bureau said. Initial report said Instrumental Intensity 2 was recorded over Claveria, Cagayan while Intensity 1 in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte. While damage to infrastructure was unlikely, aftershocks, however, were possible from the latest Cagayan event, Phivolcs said.
