'No Gringo interference!' - Thousands march against elex 'fraud' in Tegucigalpa as US pushes vote count amid weeks-long stalemate

"Thousands of demonstrators, primarily from the Liberty and Refoundation Party (Libre), marched towards the Honduran presidential palace in Tegucigalpa on Wednesday to protest what they claimed 'electoral fraud' and the alleged US interference in the national election. Footage shows protesters waving party flags and holding signs denouncing electoral fraud, with slogans targeting US President Donald Trump, including: 'Gringo go home!' and 'No Gringo interference.' "It is regrettable for Hondurans to know that we have fragile, weak institutions that are easily sold to power, to foreign interests, and also to internal interests," noted a protester. "Why does a president, even from a country as powerful in every aspect as the United States, have to come and interfere with noble people? We are a small country, but with noble, upright people with character," another criticised Trump. Earlier, Honduran President Xiomara Castro condemned what she called an 'electoral coup', while slamming the 'monumental fraud' of the results transmission system and foreign interference. The National Electoral Council has yet to declare a winner as vote counting continues, with a technical tie reported between Nasry 'Tito' Asfura and Salvador Nasralla of the Liberal Party. The election was held on November 30, with the electoral council expected to declare a winner by December 30. The winner will take office at the end of January for a four-year term. Donald Trump publicly supported candidate Nasry Asfura and warned of potential sanctions if he did not win."
