"Israeli army tanks and bulldozers were seen on Thursday carrying out land-levelling operations in Al-Mu'allaqa village, in Syria’s southern Quneitra Governorate, amid continued Israeli military activity in the area. Footage shows armoured vehicles moving over a hilltop and bulldozers flattening terrain, while gunfire can be heard in the background. Agricultural land, livestock and nearby villages are visible in the surrounding area. Khaled Al-Shami, a resident of Al-Mu‘allaqa village, said the incursion had caused panic among civilians. “They advanced into Al-Dari'a village and started firing, which caused schoolchildren to flee. It’s intimidation of civilians, destruction of land, and uprooting of olive trees. How long will we remain like this? We hope the international community will put an end to these incursions.” Syrian media reported that Israeli forces advanced “into Al-Hiran village and the Dari'a hill west of Al-Mu'allaqa village in southern Quneitra countryside, arresting a young man and levelling lands.” According to the report, the force consisted of seven military vehicles that entered Al-Hiran village at around 5 am, searched a house and detained a local. The Israeli army had not issued an official comment on the reported movements at the time of publication. Israeli forces have repeatedly carried out incursions and arrests in southern Syria. Around two weeks ago, Israel launched an operation it said targeted suspects linked to the 'Islamic Group organisation', an operation that local sources said resulted in 13 civilian deaths and injuries to dozens. Since the transitional government assumed power in Damascus in December 2024, Israel has expanded its military presence in southern Syria, deployed forces into the buffer zone."
