Slice of history! - Spain's Fuengirola breaks record for world's longest line of pizzas

"The Spanish coastal town of Fuengirola set a Guinness World Record on Wednesday for the longest line of pizzas, after local chefs prepared more than 2,100 pizzas along the seafront promenade. Footage from the event shows chefs tossing dough and moving at speed to assemble the pizzas before runners carried them to be placed in a continuous line required to qualify for the record. Around 30 professional pizza chefs worked across five ovens for nearly four hours to beat the previous record of 2,059 pizzas, set in Dubai last year. "[It's] a record with many numbers, because it's 700 metres of pizza boards laid out in a line, as they say, and 30 pizza makers, five ovens. All of that just to achieve that record of 2,100 pizzas in four hours," sevent organiser Manuel Espiritu Santo said. Hundreds of locals turned up for the event, and were offered to try the pizzas after the record was set. The initiative was led by local restaurateur Antonio Pucci, an Italian pizzaiolo who has lived in Fuengirola since 2001 and owns Pizzería Antonio Pucci. He organised the attempt in collaboration with the catering company Apoza. Pucci previously held the Guinness World Record for the longest single pizza in 2011 and has taken part in several record attempts linked to charitable causes. All proceeds from pizza sales during the event were donated to the charity AVOI. Fuengirola mayor Ana Mula praised the initiative, highlighting the city’s support for community-led projects with a charitable focus."
