Police have arrested a taxi driver following a fatal traffic accident in Central on Thursday night. Officers said the 62-year-old man was driving along Caine Road when he reportedly knocked down a pedestrian near Elgin Street at around 9pm. Sustaining multiple injuries, the 68-year-old woman was rushed to Ruttonjee Hospital in an unconscious state and was certified dead shortly after 10pm. The taxi driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and was being detained for enquiries while further investigation is under way.
