MMDA welcomes Torre as new general manager

MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Friday welcomed the appointment of former Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III as its new general manager. The agency said Torre’s extensive experience in law enforcement and public service was expected to strengthen MMDA’s work in traffic management, public safety, and other Metro Manila operations. “Gen. Torre is a welcome addition to the MMDA family. I am sure he will be a big help to the agency.” MMDA Chairman Romando Artes said in a statement. A source, however, told The Manila Times that Torre has yet to formally receive his appointment as of Friday. The MMDA also expressed gratitude to outgoing General Manager Procopio Lipana for over three years of service that advanced key programs and reforms in the agency. The agency said it remained committed to ensuring safe, efficient, and orderly mobility and development across Metro Manila under Torre’s leadership.
