Witkoff, Kushner plan for Gaza metropolis to cost $112b

Witkoff, Kushner plan for Gaza metropolis to cost $112b A 32-page PowerPoint presentation entitled the 'Sunrise Project', drawn up by US envoy Steve Witkoff and US President Donald Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner, has put the cost of reconstructing Gaza into a high-tech urban center at more than $112b. The plan, seen by the Wall Street Journal and reported on Friday, proposes that the US pay 20 percent of that cost. The project is estimated to take ten years to bring to fruition. Earlier on Friday, however, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that negotiations are nowhere near the implementation of phase two of the Gaza ceasefire, given Hamas' unwillingness to disarm. But the group has already offered to "bury" its weapons and hand over power to a Palestinian - not foreign - governing body. Israel, however, has refused the participation of nearly all Palestinian technocrats and bureaucrats who would be suited to govern Gaza.
