The Foundation of the Hellenic World (IME) has unveiled plans for a major new interactive digital tour of the Palace of Knossos, aiming to virtually reconstruct the crown jewel of the Minoan civilization for modern audiences. The project was announced during the annual Christmas dinner of the "Friends of IME," a nonprofit association that provides critical funding for the institution’s cultural work. Mrs. Sofia Kounenaki-Efraimoglou, the foundation's executive vice president, thanked the group for its sustained support, noting that their contributions are vital to IME's research and educational initiatives. Following her remarks, CEO Dimitris Efraimoglou presented the production details. Mr. Efraimoglou described the interactive Knossos experience as a pivotal step in the foundation's mission to leverage technology to preserve historical memory and broaden public engagement. The "Friends of IME," comprising roughly 220 members, supports the foundation through fundraising and cultural events, including museum visits and historical excursions. The new production comes as museums worldwide increasingly turn to immersive digital experiences to connect with younger generations and international visitors, moving beyond static exhibits to offer dynamic journeys into the past.
