US Justice Department releases thousands of heavily redacted Epstein files

The United States Department of Justice has released thousands of documents relating to the late Jeffrey Epstein . According to the BBC , the partial release totalled around 4,000 files and three gigabytes of data, and has triggered political backlash due to extensive redactions and withheld materials. The files, published under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, include photos, court documents, FBI records and investigative materials. Congress mandated their release by 19 December 2025. Lawmakers say the DOJ has not met its legal obligations.
