"Crowds of tourists flocked to the city of Changsha to see metasequoia trees changing colour in early winter along riverside parks and tree-lined streets across the city. Footage filmed on Friday shows long bands of rust‑red conifers in Hunan Martyr's Park lining waterways. "The sun shining through the redwood forest is truly stunning, and I'll definitely bring my friends back here again to take more beautiful photos," said one of the visitors. The metasequoia, a fast-growing conifer also known as the dawn redwood, has been extensively planted along Changsha's rivers and in suburban scenic areas over recent decades. "The scenery here is quite breathtaking, with golden fallen leaves everywhere, making you feel cheerful, relaxed, and happy," said another visitor. The extensive planting of the metasequoia, a protected and endangered species, is hailed as a success story in ecological conservation."
