"Burkina Faso released 11 Nigerian military personnel from detention on Friday following two weeks of detention and high-level diplomatic intervention. Footage shows the crew exiting a Nigerian Air Force aircraft in Accra, where they were welcomed by Ghanaian authorities following their release. On December 8, a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) C‑130 transport aircraft traveling from Lagos to Portugal experienced a technical fault while flying over Burkina Faso, prompting an emergency landing in the city of Bobo‑Dioulasso. Burkina Faso accused Nigeria of violating its airspace and detained the aircraft along with all 11 personnel on board - two pilots and nine crew members. The Nigerian government maintained that the landing was a routine safety measure carried out in line with international aviation protocols. The group's release came after intensive diplomatic engagement, with President Bola Tinubu sending a delegation headed by Foreign Affairs Minister Yusuf Tuggar to Ouagadougou for talks with Burkina Faso's military leader, Captain Ibrahim Traore. The crew is now in Ghana for rest and final technical inspections on the aircraft. Once cleared, they will resume their journey to Portugal."
