MANILA, Philippines — The remains of former Public Works and Highways undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral arrived in Metro Manila early Sunday morning even as authorities search a hotel in Baguio City. Cabral’s body reached the capital at 3:21 a.m., after departing from Benguet at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla earlier said that authorities found no signs of foul play in Cabral’s death. Meanwhile, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed that operatives of the NBI-Cordillera Administrative Region are serving a search warrant at a hotel in Baguio City where Cabral stayed before her death. The warrant, issued by Judge Michael Francisco of the Regional Trial Court of Baguio City, Branch 6, is part of the ongoing investigation into Cabral’s death. Authorities are seeking evidence that may shed light on the circumstances surrounding her passing.
