MANILA, Philippines — Shear line, or convergence of hot and cold air, would prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of Central Luzon throughout the day, the state-run weather agency said on Monday. “It would be generally fair weather over the metropolis along with the rest of Central Luzon, but there would be isolated downpours or thunderstorms during late afternoon or at night due to the shear line,” weather specialist Daniel James Villamil said in a briefing. Villamil said that the weather bureau has not monitored any low-pressure area entering the Philippine Area of Responsibility in the coming days. In its 5 a.m. advisory, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said the easterlies—winds that pass through the Pacific Ocean and carry humid and warm weather—have been affecting the Visayas, MIMAROPA (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan), Bicol Region, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte. Meanwhile, Ilocos Norte, the rest of Cagayan Valley, and the rest of Cordillera Administrative Region will experience cloudy skies with rain due to the northeast monsoon (amihan). The rest of the country, according to the national weather bureau, would have partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms also due to the easterlies.
