Sara denies visiting her alleged bagman

MANILA, Philippines — Vice President Sara Duterte has denied knowing or visiting Ramil Madriaga, who claimed to be her bagman. She said his revelations are part of an effort to derail her possible run for the president in 2028. In a statement on Monday, Duterte said that she never had a personal relationship with Madriaga. "I have never visited him in prison, nor have I spoken to him about anything at any time," Duterte said. She said that the photographs he submitted as proof are "unrelated images taken during public events where I was present.” "These images do not support his allegations and merely show that he was present as part of an election campaign group," she said. "He is now disseminating false statements to government authorities as part of a concerted effort to obstruct and undermine my possible candidacy for President," Duterte added.
