Chavit Singson once again expressed interest in buying the prestigious Miss Universe pageant. “Nasira sa Thailand, nasira sila sa Mexico, binintangan sila na parang di [tama] ang judging, sirang-sira. So sabi ko, bilhin ko na lang," the former Ilocos Sur governor said businessman during a media conference held this morning, December 22. He also hared that he is set to meet with former Miss Universe Organization officials, Paula Shugart and Shawn McClain, in January 2026. “Kukunin namin para pagandahin ang Pilipinas, hindi para kumita. Maski malugi kami, basta maganda, okay lang,” Chavit said. He added, “Before I decided, willing akong malugi diyan, e. Kasi, maganda para sa ating bansa. So, habang may pera ako, gusto kong bilhin.” If he succeeds in acquiring the Miss Universe pageant, Chavit assured that it would be properly managed. He also mentioned that he wants Shugart to return and oversee the organization. "Pinatakbo niya 'yan for so many years, siya nagha-handle niyan," Chavit said. One of the issues involved alleged cheating in the win of Miss Mexico Fatima Bosch , which was cited as the reason for the resignation of one of the officials before coronation night.
