Santa has no fear of cold water! Brave surfers in The Hague make a splash in North Sea as Christmas approaches

"Hundreds of surfers from around the world bravely faced the cold waters of the North Sea during the Surfin' Santas event, marking the start of the Christmas season in The Hague. Footage filmed on Saturday, December 20, shows participants dressed in bright red Santa Claus costumes, rushing into the sea with their surfboards to enjoy swimming in the refreshing winter waves. After diving, the surfers posed for a group photo. "As in the Christmas spirit, we believe in love. Surfing is love; Christmas is love. So that's why we organised it seven years ago for the first time," event organiser Rompe Schuitema said, adding, "This year, there will be 300 people, I think, in the water." Some surfers return to the event on the Scheveningen coast, delighted by it as they have been in previous years. Others are excited to try the unique Christmas entertainment for the first time. "It's definitely an interesting idea that I’ve never tried before. So, I thought it would be really fun to do. And I'm quite scared, terrified that the water is cold and a lot of people will be in the water at the same time," Greg said. "Yes, even though the waves are small, it was really good fun. Not even cold,” Andrea shared, adding, "Next year again!" The event has reportedly been held annually at the Netherlands' Hart Beach since at least 1984."
