"The Fourways suburb in Johannesburg lit up on Sunday as car enthusiasts decked out their vehicles and took to the streets for a dazzling Christmas lights convoy drive event, drawing hundreds eager to witness the unique celebration. Footage shows hundreds of cars covered with twinkling lights and festive decorations converging at a local shopping center. From Grinch-themed vehicles to Santa sleighs, all lined up one after the other before joining the convoy drive. "We do it over the name of charity […] it's the kids, it's the animals, and that's why we do this," a car enthusiast dressed as 'The Grinch' said. Event organiser Sam explained their Santa sleigh-themed car, equipped with a precision turbo, was built to deliver Christmas presents to children's homes across South Africa. "Last year, we did the entire coastline. This year we did the Kalahari […] we will be doing this every single year,” he added. An attendee watching the convoy drive expressed joy over the event, saying he 'loved the vibe'. "We heard about this, and we thought we wanted a part of it. [...] It's making our, you know, our Christmas, our festive special. We're loving it,” he continued. The event served as a charity drive, collecting donations for groceries, clothing, pet food, and toys, serving local children’s homes and animal shelters. Fourways is considered a top spot for Johannesburg's car scene, famous for luxury car shows, exotic vehicles, and custom-built cars."
