"Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said on Saturday that Western attempts to isolate Russia failed, claiming that people are 'flocking' to the country and seeking to 'become a part'of it. "You open a Western newspaper, turn on a Western television programme, and hear about what else they've done or invented to, in their words, isolate our country. Yet, people are flocking to us from all over the world, not only to support us in their countries and fight for common sense at home, but also because they want to become part of our country," she said on the sidelines of the Second International Catherine Forum in Moscow. Zakharova added that, for some foreigners, relocation to Russia is a 'vital choice,' citing former US president Joe Biden's aide Tara Reade as an example, adding that she got Russian citizenship. "For some, it is not just a desire. For some, this is a vital choice. For others, it's simply life circumstances, as was mentioned today by an American citizen, who received a Russian passport, saying it is salvation. She found this salvation in Russia and considers Russia the hero of her life, her personal hero," she said. Alexandra Tara McCabe, better known as Tara Reade, briefly worked as an aide to Joe Biden during his tenure as a senator from Delaware. She alleges that Biden sexually assaulted her in 1993, prompting her resignation. In 2020, during the presidential campaign, she filed a police report about the incident in Washington. Biden has consistently denied the allegations. Reade relocated to Russia in 2023, requesting asylum. In September 2025, President Vladimir Putin signed a decree granting her Russian citizenship, and on December 20, she was presented with a passport at an official ceremony. "
