Pierce Brosnan as James Bond in 2002's Die Another Day Former James Bond star Pierce Brosnan wasn’t exactly up for dissecting 007’s potential Christmas plans during a recent interview with The Times . Last week, the newspaper published an interview with the Tomorrow Never Dies, during which he was asked whether he thought Bond would enjoy the festive season. “Of course he would enjoy Christmas!” he apparently responded, while “chuckling madly”, but when pressed further on the matter, he seemed less keen to talk about it. “I don’t really want to answer the question and I’m not going to answer the question,” he continued.“Because I couldn’t give a fuck! Why would I waste my time thinking about where James Bond would be at Christmas?” Changing tact, he added: “But I know where Pierce Brosnan’s going to be spending Christmas! At home with my wife, in my little island retreat in Hawaii!” Later in the conversation, Pierce apologised “for not being able to help you with James Bond”. “It’s something that’ll go on until the day is done,” the MobLand star claimed. “[Sean] Connery was the same: ‘Don’t ever ask! Don’t ever ask!’ But, you know, I’m as excited as the next man or woman to find out who’s going to play that role again. It’s always exciting.” The James Bond franchise is currently at something of a crossroads following the departure of Daniel Craig as 007 after 2021’s No Time To Die . While the next movie in the series now has both a director and a screenwriter , a leading man is yet to be cast, with several high-profile names rumoured to be in consideration . Earlier this year, Pierce weighed in on the potential casting , insisting it should be “a given” that the role not go to an American actor. Bond has also undergone some big changes behind the scenes , with Amazon MGM recently taking over creative control from Eon Productions.
