LAHORE: The Punjab government is promoting medical education in the medical institutions of the province while efforts are being made to provide the best healthcare facilities to the people. Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique said this while addressing the 42nd Syndicate meeting of the Fatima Jinnah Medical University in which it was directed to prepare a proposal to completely shift Gangaram Hospital Lahore to the solar system. The performance of Fatima Jinnah Medical University was also appreciated in the meeting. In the meeting, a framework contract was approved for the tender purchase of medicines, surgical disposable items, laboratory kits, chemicals, gases and dental materials to Gangaram Hospital for the year 2025-26. The meeting approved the framework contract for the tender purchase of stationery, printing, general store and sanitary items for Gangaram Hospital for the year 2025-26. It approved the framework contract for the tender purchase of digital X-ray films for Gangaram Hospital for the year 2025-26. The meeting approved the annual framework contract for genitourinary services for Gangaram Hospital and Mother and Child Block. The meeting approved the award letter revision for outsourcing of security services to Gangaram Hospital. It approved the extension of the IT maintenance contract for the Mother and Child Block of Gangaram Hospital for the next one year. The meeting approved the annual contract for the repair and maintenance of 9 generators along with panels installed in Fatima Jinnah Medical University, Gangaram Hospital and Mother and Child Block. The meeting approved the tender for the framework contract for the repair and maintenance of 2 elevators installed in the emergency block, 2 elevators installed in the Fatima Jinnah block and 2 elevators installed in the indoor area of Gangaram Hospital for the year 2025-26. The meeting approved the tender for the repair and maintenance of ventilators installed in Gangaram Hospital for the year 2025-26. The meeting also approved the deposit work of the C&W Department to make the CSSD and laundry of the Mother and Child Block of Gangaram Hospital functional. Khawaja Salman Rafique said that as per vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, we are striving to provide the best health facilities to the people. Moreover, Provincial Minister for Health and Chairman Cabinet Committee on Law and Order Khawaja Salman Rafique met a delegation of Ahl-e-Hadith Pakistan scholars regarding the registration of madrasas in Punjab. Secretary Home Dr Ahmed Javed Qazi was present on the occasion. The delegation was led by President Jamiat Ahl-e-Hadith Hisham Elahi Zaheer. Khawaja Salman Rafique said on this occasion that the Punjab government is making the process of registering madrassas easy and convenient. Modern religious education is being provided to children in madrassas. A series of meetings are ongoing with scholars of different schools of thought regarding the registration of madrassas, he added.
