MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) will turn over all documents, records, and files under the office of the late former DPWH undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral to the Office of the Ombudsman and the Philippine National Police- Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP-ACG). Public Works Secretary Vince Dizon said that also to be turned over were computer data storage devices, like solid state devices (SSD), hard disk devices(HDDs), portable universal serial bus (USB) driver memory cards, remote cloud storage and other official computer or data storage devices, under the official custody of or at the office of Cabral. According to Dizon, the turnover of these materials was in response to the "subpoena duces tecum" issued by the office of Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla in connection with the ongoing investigation and subsequent prosecution of DPWH officials, politicians, contractors and other private individuals linked to the anomalous and ghost flood control projects. "In full compliance with the Subpoena Duces Tecum issued by the Office of the Ombudsman, the Department of Public Works and Highways will be immediately turning over all data storage devices, with the corresponding authority to submit the same to the PNP-ACG for forensics examination, as well as all documents, records, and files under the office of the late former Undersecretary Maria Catalina Cabral," Dizon, in a statement, said. "The Department remains committed to transparency and will continue to cooperate fully with investigating bodies to provide any further assistance required in the ongoing inquiry," the statement read. A subpoena duces tecum subpoena for production of evidence is a legal instrument issued by the court or other authorized bodies ordering the recipient to appear before the issuing body and produce documents or other tangible evidence for use at a hearing or trial.
