David Walliams David Walliams has been dealt another blow after being dropped from the line-up of a leading children’s book event. Last week, it was confirmed that the comedian, actor and children’s book author’s publisher, HarperCollins, had severed ties with him due to allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards female employees. “After careful consideration, and under the leadership of its new CEO, HarperCollins UK has decided not to publish any new titles by David Walliams,” a spokesperson said. “HarperCollins takes employee well-being extremely seriously and has processes in place for reporting and investigating concerns.” A spokesperson for the Little Britain comedian later denied that the performer had ever “been informed of any allegations raised against him” by his publisher, and insisted that he “was not party to any investigation or given any opportunity to answer questions”. “David strongly denies that he has behaved inappropriately and is taking legal advice,” his representative added. BBC News subsequently reported on Monday evening that he had been removed from the line-up of next year’s Waterstones Children’s Book Festival. “ HarperCollins [has] confirmed that David Walliams will no longer be appearing at our festival in Dundee,” a Waterstones spokesperson told the outlet. Meanwhile, on Boxing Day, David is due to appear as one of the panellists in the festive special of Would I Lie To You? . David’s appearance on Would I Lie To You? was pre-recorded over the summer. Shortly after the recording took place, it was reported that he’d left the rest of the panel, and the studio audience, shocked by performing a Nazi salute with one hand and a sexual gesture with the other, in response to an anecdote by fellow guest, Call The Midwife actor Helen George .
