PESHAWAR: At least five cops were martyred after a police mobile van was targeted in Karak district on Tuesday. The police van was completely destroyed in the attack by the terrorists while four cops were martyred on the spot and another succumbed to his injuries later in a hospital. The police patrolling party was attacked in Aman Kot area, within the jurisdiction of Garagri Police Station in Karak district. The officers who lost their lives in the terrorist attack included Shahid Iqbal, Arif, Safdar and others. The police vehicle was deployed to provide security for an oil and gas exploration company at the time of the incident. Following the attack, law enforcement agencies launched a search operation in the area to apprehend the assailants. Karak District Police Officer (DPO) Saud Khan confirmed the toll, saying the police van was on routine patrol when assailants opened fire on the officials.
