Roarsome celebrations! - Singapore Zoo keepers prepare festive treats for animals at Rainforest Wild Asia

"Animals in Rainforest Wild Asia zoo in Singapore were treated to a festive surprise on Christmas Eve, as zookeepers marked the occasion with special enrichment activities as part of the annual 'Santa's Adventure Quest'. Footage shows workers preparing treats and wreath-shaped enrichments, designed to encourage the animals' natural behaviour while adding some festive fun. Tigers can be seen roaming the enclosures while visitors explore the park grounds. "It is like a form of sensory enrichment for them because they, you know, are able to smell and explore their surroundings more, and it also helps to encourage them to showcase more hunting behaviour," explained zookeeper Desiree. "Animal enrichment is important because it actually stimulates them to what they could actually do in the wild. So, it is a little bit to make them use their brain power, that kind of thing. We do have, for Christmas, a little snowman that we built using their enrichment devices, so it is still the same thing, just that a little more of a festive spice," added Asfiq. The wild adventure will run from December 1-25 this year, where visitors will have the opportunity to feed animals, explore the forest trek in search of Christmas tokens, and participate in other immersive activities, as part of the festive programme."
