MANILA, Philippines — A police officer in Marikina City made one elderly happy on Christmas Eve by fulfilling a promise to visit her. Police Colonel Jenny DC Tecson, officer-in-charge of Marikina City Police Station, visited Lola Celia Angeles, 91, in Barangay Sto. Niño on Wednesday morning, after meeting her at a gift-giving activity at the Marikina SPorts Center on Dec. 21. Upon seeing the police officer, Lola Celia cried tears of disbelief and gratitude for the police officer who didn't forget her promise. Tecson also brought fruits to Lola Celia to cheer her up this Christmas. The Philippine National Police had said that part of its commitment of strengthening police–community relations was fostering trust and confidence in law enforcement through meaningful engagement, particularly among vulnerable sectors of society.
