DOH warning: Holiday-related heart attacks, strokes on the rise

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) issued its public warning on Wednesday against eating unhealthy food, smoking, and drinking alcohol this holiday season, citing a recorded increase in holiday-related ailments. Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa spoke about what usually happens during the holidays: “What we commonly see is that, because Christmas happens only once a year, [people] say ‘it’s fine’ even if this is not allowed.” “They will eat ‘lechon’ [roasted pig].
