Kanlaon Volcano spews 400-meter ash column Friday morning

MANILA, Philippines—Kanlaon Volcano on Negros Island emitted a weak ash plume Friday morning, Dec. 26, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). Phivolcs, in a Facebook advisory, said the ash emission from the volcano’s summit crater began at 6:27 a.m. and was continuing as of this writing. “This event generated grayish plumes that rose to 400 meters above the crater before drifting southwest,” the agency said, attaching the time-lapse footage captured by its IP camera at Kanlaon Volcano Observatory–Canlaon City (KVO-CC) stations.
